girl: "Honey, do my hips look big in these pants?"
guy: "Kind of, but they look like they usually do."
(beat)
guy: "What? Why do you look upset?"
I'm sure they could hear the sound of me slapping my forehead nextdoor.

Ah, the "how do I look in this?" There's no right answer, and we both know this. Damn girls. Damn The Limited.
Is there a The Unlimited? Because I'd like to shop there...
But there's the easy answer here. Upon hearing The Question That Has No Good Answer, the guy should reply, "It's fine, but THIS makes you look even hotter" and direct GF to something better. We're all distracted by flattery. On the flip side, women need to stop asking "Does this X make me look fat?" and start asking, "Is this flattering on me?" Blame it on the clothes, not the hips, and leave the guy an easy way out.
